Thypoch joins forces with DZOFilm for its new Simera-C compact cine lens series

Newcomer lens manufacturer Thypoch has teamed up with DZOFilm for its latest release. It’s the Thypoch Simera-C series of cine lenses ($3,169). The lineup is kicking off with lenses at 28mm ($879), 35mm ($879), 50mm ($879) and 75mm ($879) focal lengths, all with a T1.5 maximum aperture.
Thypoch says that the new full-frame cinema lineup features the same optics as their Simera series lenses, which initially launched in 2023 with 28mm and 35mm lenses. It was expanded earlier this year to add the 50mm f/1.4. The 75mm, however, is entirely new.

The new lenses, three of them anyway, match the optical construction of Thypoch’s Simera series lenses for Leica M, Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF and Fuji X. But as the new Simera-C lineup is designed for cinema camera users, the company teamed up with lensmakers, DZOFilm.
With the same optics, they should offer the same level of optical performance, including sharpness, chromatic aberration and other lens characteristics. The lineup is launching with 28mm 35mm, 50mm and 75mm focal lengths with T1.5 apertures.
There’s no 75mm f/1.4 equivalent lens for photographers yet, so maybe we’ll see that announcement soon, too. Looking at the case for the set of four lenses, it looks like Thypoch has at least one more Simera-C lens on the way, too.

The new Thypoch Simera-C lineup is a set of quite compact cinema lenses, offering matched sizes and positions for iris and focus rings – which are 0.8 MOD geared. So you can swap out lenses on a gimbal or other rig with follow focus without having to adjust. They also all offer a fairly large focus throw of 210°.
At the moment, these full-frame lenses are only available in Sony E mount. This will be disappointing for some, given that many cinema cameras now have a Canon RF Mount, and future RED cameras will more than likely sport a Nikon Z Mount. Still, I expect we’ll see more mounts come in the future. After all, the Simera photography lenses are both available for RF and Z mounts, too.
