The International Photography Awards (IPA) have just announced their 2025 category winners, and the results are a breathtaking, and at times heartbreaking, reminder of the power a single frame can hold. From thousands of global submissions, the jury has chosen winners across eleven genres, but a few projects especially stand out.
One juror noted that Abdelrahman Alkahlout’s devastating ‘Echoes of Genocide’ from Gaza is a series that will “break the viewer’s heart,” and Sebastian Piorek’s chilling work on Poland’s ever-expanding landfills is a stark metaphor for our planet’s environmental toll. The overall winner and Photographer of the Year will be named in Athens in October, and will win the $10,000 prize. Here are the winners of each category.
