Timelapse is a subject that many photographers and filmmakers have tried. But sometimes, a couple of hours just isn’t long enough to shoot the sequence that you really need. In construction, for example, you might need to keep shooting for up to a month, or even more.
The Afidus ATL-200 from TimeLapseCameras is one solution to this problem, offering a month of shooting on just four AA batteries. We caught up with TimeLapseCameras at NAB 2019 to find out more.
This camera is designed specifically for shooting long term timelapse, especially outdoors. It can be configured to shoot during specific hours, so that you can limit its shooting to working or daylight hours to minimise wasted time & battery power. Interestingly, it has an optical zoom lens offering a focal length equivalent to 16-35mm on a full frame DSLR.
It’s weatherproof to handle all kinds of climate conditions without a separate housing and offers wifi remote control. And as well as time based timelapse, it also features motion detection, too, so you can have it shoot just when it sees something move – which could also help it serve quite well as a wildlife camera. It is only 1080p, but for the types of projects where a camera like this is typically used, that’s usually plenty.
The Afidus ATL-200 is available to pre-order now for $389 and will be shipping soon. You can find out more on the TimeLapseCameras website.
