This Alien-themed shoot is the scariest and the funniest maternity shoot ever [mildly NSFW]

How often do you see a maternity shoot that makes you start crying with laughter? Well, this might be the one. Inspired by Alien, Todd and Nicole Cameron had the idea for the funniest (but also the scariest) maternity shoot I’ve ever seen. Photographer Lila Carter turned their idea into reality, and I bet that the resulting photos will make your day.

Before we go any further, I’ll warn you that some images may seem too brutal. I remind you, though, that it’s all fake and done for the sake of fun. Still, if you’re not a fan of horror movies and blood (even fake blood), then proceed with caution.

Todd explains that some time before this shoot he found an Alien’s Chestburster model at a garage sale. When he put it together and painted it, the idea for the photo shoot came to him. As he told Bored Panda, he and Nicole are great fans of Halloween and everything that involves costumes (I can relate). As a matter of fact, they even met on Halloween. So, a photo shoot in a pumpkin field involving props, costumes, and fake blood seemed like a logical idea.

Lila Carter turned out to be the perfect choice for the Alien-themed photoshoot. She isn’t only a friend of the couple, but as a cosplayer, she also enjoys costumes and she has captured many cosplay events.

I must admit that I’m generally not a big fan of maternity photos and ideas for them. But when I first saw this series of photos, at one point I burst into laughter (pun intended). I remembered an episode of Coupling where the characters describe pregnancy as “incubating an alien life form.” And though it may sound cruel, I often joke with my friends about “carrying a little Alien inside” when we talk about pregnancy. Maybe that’s why I found these photos so funny.

I could only imagine how much fun both the photographer and the couple had during this shoot. And according to Todd, it really was the case. Although it was chilly outside and they were in a muddy pumpkin field, there was a lot of fun and laughter. Make sure to check out Lila’s work on her Instagram and YouTube channel, and I now leave you to the photos. I hope they’ll make you laugh just like they made me.
