The winners of the 2025 Architecture Photography MasterPrize remind us why architectural photography is about far more than sharp lines and perfect symmetry; it’s about how spaces feel. This year’s selection puts clarity, detail, and a strong sense of place in the foreground, with photographers translating buildings, interiors, and cityscapes into visual stories that reveal culture as much as construction. From sweeping exterior perspectives to carefully observed interior moments, the winning images show a deep understanding of light, texture, and context.
Top honours went to Shoayb Khattab (United Arab Emirates) for Exterior Architecture Photography of the Year and Ng Chi Ho Gary (Hong Kong) for Interior Architecture Photography of the Year, whose work stands out for its ability to make architecture feel both monumental and human. Together, the 2025 winners offer a compelling snapshot of how photography continues to shape the way we see and understand the built environment.
Photography Masterprize Award 2025 Winners
Winner Exterior Architecture Photography of the Year: Shoayb Khattab, United Arab Emirates
“KAFD”
A commissioned project by King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) documenting their district in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, featuring over 90 buildings by renowned architects such as Zaha Hadid, Foster + Partners, and Henning Larsen. The images, captured over a year at various times and scenarios, highlight the magnificent architecture and scale of the world’s largest LEED Platinum-certified mixed-use business center.
Winner Interior Architecture Photography of the Year: Ng Chi Ho Gary, Hong Kong
“Concrete Memento”
Designed by Japanese architect Hiroyuki Wakabayashi, the Uji Station in Japan is a quiet brutalist gem. Circular arches and voids invite shifting light that casts ephemeral patterns across bare concrete. More than transit, the station is a vessel for impermanence and beauty – passengers move through geometrically framed light just like the passing of time but elegantly.
