If you’re ever looking for inspiration, you really can’t go wrong with Benjamin Von Wong, and just a quick scroll down the homepage of his website will instantly show you why.
But, if you needed some more convincing then I present this video, brought to you by the folks from the Cooperative of Photography, featuring Benjamin himself with some information and advice on pushing yourself to take your photography to the next level.
Showing examples of his own work, taking things from relatively ordinary tests and experiments…

And making them extraordinary.

We are shown how ideas can evolve to become far more than originally thought possible.
Benjamin says that each of the examples he provides follows the same basic structure, and it’s one you can easily apply to your own work, too.
- Draw all your ideas in a very simple format.
- Find all the ingredients you’re going to need to bring your vision to life.
- Surround yourself with the people you need to make the project happen.
- Trial and error, over and over again. Keep experimenting, and never give up.
So, next time you have an idea or get a basic technique figured out, think about how you can really push yourself and make it into something new and interesting.
What other tips and advice do you have to push yourself, your abilities and your work? Let us know in the comments.
