Nothing says “I love my camera” more than a handmade wooden grip, and this grip by Stefano Borghi says it perfectly. Stefano build this wooden grip to replace his Fuji Xpro-1 plastic grip. Of course, similar procedure can be implemented to create a wooden grip for the newer Xpro 2 as well, and probably the Xpro3 when it comes. (we are not starting a rumor now!).
It is kinda straight forward, so I am just gonna lay out the photos to show you how it’s done step by step.

Start by removing the original grip using a precision screwdriver. The new grip will “ride” on the original grip. There is a plastic bit under the original grip. Just remove the grip and unscrew the support (just to have a easier access, and check that it fits well).

Then use the plastic bit to mark a groove on fine wood of your choice. That wood will be fixed onto the original grip.

cut multiple pieces of the wood and stack/glue them together, this will give some height to the grip

File that tower into shape

measure for fitting

color and lacquer

leave to dry
Is important to remember to screw the grip support back before to glue the wooden grip cause once is glued you don’t have any access to the screws
Here is how the grip looks attached
