Sigma to (probably) announce the 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DN DG OS Sports lens August 4th

Sigma Japan has just posted an upcoming Sigma Stage product announcement to their website and YouTube channel. Scheduled for Wednesday, August 4th, there are no hints as to exactly what will be announced, but I think it’s possibly a safe bet to say that it’ll probably be the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DN DG OS Sports lens for Leica L and Sony E mounts.

The event is expected to begin on August 4th at 9pm Japan Standard Time. That would be 1pm for folks in the UK, 8am for East Coast US and 5am for West Coast US. The event is being streamed both on the Sigma Station – Japan channel, as well as in English through the main Sigma Global channel.

The main suspect for an announcement next week is the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DN DG OS Sports lens. Sigma’s “Sports” series lenses essentially hold up to the quality of the company’s Art series lenses but with snappier autofocus and response times that sports and wildlife shooters demand. Thanks to Nokishita, the specs for the upcoming lens have largely already been leaked.

Of course, there’s no word on a price yet, although it’s expected to be somewhere around $1,800-2,000. There are also no hints on what else we might hear announced during the event, but even if there is nothing else, this lens will be a welcome announcement for many, particularly wildlife photographers.
