One Adapter to Rule them All: 7Artisans Adapter Puts PL Lenses on 4 Different Mounts

If you’ve ever wished you could mount PL cinema glass on any mirrorless camera, 7Artisans may have just made your life a little easier, and won’t make your wallet much lighter. The company has announced the PL-E/Z/L/RF 4-in-1 adapter set, a modular mount adapter designed to put ARRI PL lenses on several of today’s most popular mirrorless systems. And it’s priced at under $200.
Instead of buying a separate adapter for each camera system, the 7Artisans kit includes interchangeable mounts that let you switch between Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and L-mount bodies. If you shoot with multiple systems or work in a mixed camera environment, that flexibility could come in pretty handy and useful in a few scenarios.
Independent filmmakers and content creators often rent PL lenses for specific shoots. Having a compatible adapter means you can use those lenses with your existing mirrorless camera rather than renting a cinema body as well.
There’s also the appeal of the look. Many cinema lenses offer distinctive rendering, smoother focus mechanics, and long focus throws that are aimed precisely at video work.
And if you’re working with multiple camera brands, a modular adapter like this could help keep things simple. Swap the mount, keep the lens.
On the minus side, there’s no electronic communication. This is a fully mechanical adapter, but it makes sense given that most PL lenses feature manual focus and are designed for traditional follow-focus shooting.
