Untitled-1Photo filters like those we find in Instagram, VSCO, and Photoshop are often used to apply a desired style to a photograph without having to put much thought into it, but have you have ever took a moment to think about how they work under the surface? How exactly do they work and what’s actually happening to your photograph?

Turns out, it’s all about kernel convolution– you can learn all about that and more as image analyst, Dr Mike Pound, explains all about some our favorite filters and the nitty-gritty of they do what they do. He explains it much more concisely and eloquently than I could, so I’ll leave the rest to Dr. Pound…
