Lightroom 6 Will Be Released on March 20 According to an Amazon Japan Leak

The most recent leak indicates that the latest version of the popular photo processing and organizing software will be available in just ten days time.
While the leak does seem authentic, it is not necessarily the final release date.
A previous leak from Amazon UK and FNAC, a large retail chain in France, indicated that the software would be released on March 9th.
There has been some concern as to whether or not Lightroom will continue to be offered under a perpetual license or if it will become subscription-based only, but a leak from Amazon UK reveals that the new version will be offered as a “DVD Set”.
Below is the Google translation of the listing as it appeared on FNAC’s website:

Don’t see a whole lot of new features, improved maybe, but not really new.
Facial Recognition, HDR, and Panoramas all seem like significant new features, and as far as I’m concerned, any speed improvement is also a feature.
You are kidding??
Ummm…no. What, besides face recognition is brand new?
Unless you’re a beta tester of LR6, or confusing with CC offering full photoshop, then HDR and Panorama ARE new features. Along with Face recognition, its finally a big enough bump to get me to upgrade from LR4.
I’d have to go with panorama. I did stitching of frames into panoramas using Paint Shop Pro. I’d like to know how easy Lightroom does it.
64 bit, graphics acceleration, hdr, panorama stitching, to name a few.
Nope. That’s already all in LR5. In fact 5.5 requires a 64 bit machine. Better? Probably, new? Nope.
facial recogintion LR 5.. dream on…. panos in LR 5..dream on….
In fact lightroom 5.5 does NOT require a 64 bit machine, and it does NOT utilize the graphics card to assist in processing speed. HDR and Panoramic stitching IS new, as is facial recognition. You may have ways of working around these features utilizing photoshop, or some other method, but that does not mean it isn’t a new feature for LR.
We have information that leads us to believe the launch date will be pushed to April – from a previously reliable source.
nonsense….
and my source is better than your source.
I guess we shall see
Well we saw – CCCC’s source is bunk and mine isn’t. Crickets…
P.S. Who is our source? Since you claim you know your source is better than ours – that requires you to know our source.
My source can beat up your source
LOL
Early or late?
Mid April – and we see that “cccc” has bailed on this thread. We guarantee you that he/she will be nowhere to be found on March 20 – Lightroom isn’t coming until April. Period.
You appear to be correct.
Well we know it didn’t come on the 25th and that CCCC has bailed – when will LR come in April? We are still hearing mid-to-late April.
Back in 2012 I walked away, from Lightroom, to RawTherapee.
Haven’t watched back at it ever since.
and who exactly cares?
Apparently you do.
Tried it around then probably and got bugged with temp file issues among other things. Also can’t recall if it was as flexible with non destructive editing and catalog which are massive pluses for LightRoom.
sticking w/ LR5 as long as my system is alive. PTGUI Pro is best for panos, bar none. When forced to move beyond LR5, into the scary cloud, moving to alt cataloging/post-processing. Not needing to upgrade every software iteration, I don’t like the idea of renting Adobe’s ones and zeros. I am a fond user of PS and LR, for now…
autopano runs circles around PTGui……
that´s why all the major pano artist use autpano.
I’ll have to take a look, thanks
I use mac
Face recognition..? Hum, over short time I guess.. so what for ? Faces are changing with time, some years later I wish to know how efficient the software is on this side.
There’re a lot of other improvements to achieve and particularly to make ACR much more better now. Have a look at C1, PhotoNinja or Iridient Digital..
Adobe always releases product at Midnight EST so if LR were coming today it would already be announced.
It’s March 21st, darn this leak.
March 20th 2016?
MArch 20 has come and gone- No lightroom 6 yet!
