Instagram now has ads even in search results. Sigh

You though Instagram didn’t have any more places to cram adds? Well, looks like you’re wrong. Ads are now coming even to your Search results, because that’s probably the only place where we still aren’t seeing them. In addition, you’ll even be able to select “reminder ads” which will send a push notification to your phone.

Instagram announced the new ad options on its blog. Ads in search results are currently being tested, and it’s exactly as it sounds. Ads will show up in the feed that you scroll when you tap into a post from search results. Instagram says that it plans to launch this globally over the coming months.

Another ad-related option are so-called “Reminder ads.” It’s made for businesses who want to “announce, remind and notify people of future events or launches that they might be interested in.” They’re being rolled out to all advertisers as an option in feed. For users, thankfully, at least this is optional and you can choose whether you want to see them or not. You can opt into reminders and receive three notifications from Instagram: a day before, 15 minutes before, and at the time of the event.

Adding more ads to Instagram is probably surprising no one, yet annoying the hell out of everyone. I honestly didn’t think they had any more places to add advertisement, but apparently, when there’s a will, there’s a way. I wish they had the same kind of will to make Instagram great again… But it’s probably too late for that.
