Images of new Sigma lenses leaking ahead of an official announcement are as inevitable as Thanos. Sigma has a new products presentation live stream planned for later today (in about 3 hours from now) where it’s expected that they’ll announce the new Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG DN Art and 24mm f/1.4 DG DN Art series lenses. The basic specs leaked last week and now we’re getting to have a look at them.

As well as the images, there are also a few new bits of information, including expected shipping dates and a Japan price for the 24mm. There’s no word yet on what they’ll cost in the rest of the world, but I’m sure that information will be coming later today during the official announcement. I’ve embedded the upcoming stream here in case you missed it.

Sigma 20mm f/1.4 DG DN Art

This one apparently has a slogan – “The ultimate starscape lens, now available”. Well, it’s not available just yet, but it’s clear what kind of photographer these lenses are targeted towards. The updated leaked specs reveal a shipping date of August 26th, with pre-orders opening up tomorrow. The photo of the lens mount also shows that as well as having an 82mm filter thread on the front, it also has a slot for taking rear-mounted filters.

  • rear filter holder
  • lens heater retainer

Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG DN Art

This lens, too, has a slogan – “Birth of a starry lens for everyday use”. It seems that while Sigma is targeting both of these lenses toward astrophotographers, Sigma also sees the 24mm f/1.4 as a more versatile lens for general use amongst photographers of all kinds. There’s no word of rear-mounted filters on this one and there’s no photo yet of the actual mount, so we’ll see.

  • 24mm F1.4 DG DN Art
  • Lens configuration: 17 elements in 14 groups (1 SLD glass, 2 FLD glasses, 4 aspherical lenses)
  • Number of aperture blades: 11 (circular aperture)
  • Minimum shooting distance: 0.25m
  • Maximum shooting magnification : 1: 7.1
  • Filter diameter:
  • 72mm Size: φ75.7 x 95.5mm (E-mount version 97.5mm)
  • AF assist function
  • MFL switch (MF lock)
  • rear filter holder
  • lens heater retainer
  • Weight: 520g (E-mount version 510g)
  • 118,800 yen including tax
  • Scheduled release date: August 26, 2022

Both lenses are expected to be announced at 1pm UK time today (8am Eastern, 5pm Pacific or 9pm Japan time), although pre-orders aren’t expected to open up until tomorrow. I expect that some retailers will have pre-order links available as soon as the announcement is official, though. Both lenses are expected to start shipping on August 26th.
