Being one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Venice, Italy would be a great location for a shoot, right? Trust us, Venice is a wonderful place to put a model in. Aside from being one of Europe’s most fashionable cities, it has great architecture and great sense of italian style. This makes Venice ideal for fashion and beauty shots.

Sadly, not everyone gets to go to Venice to shoot. Just the travel would be too much not to mention renting gear, loading it in a truck and walking around the city with a full suite from location to location.

But we do want everyone to be able to create venetian photos, so we sent one of the finest photographers we know, Rebecca B. to Venice to create our most wonderful backplate package yet – the Venice Package. Actually those are three packages with 30 backplates each.

We took a composite-oriented approach to shooting those photos (or rather Rebecca did, because this girl knows what she’s doing!) and we made it really easy to composite models into the images. (Feel free to “clip and save” as a shooting for composite checklist):

  • Each photo was carefully frames so a model can be placed at least in one location which makes sense. We took care of angle, empty spaces, and overall balance in the photo
  • The focus is not on the background, it is on where the model would have been, so the backdrop is just slightly out of focus and features a wonderful bokeh made with Schneider-Kreuznach optics.
  • We made sure there is a light source in the photo, weather the sun, a street lamp, or light coming into an alley makes it easy to light a model and make seem natural.

As far as tech specs, Rebecca took her 80MP Mamiya along with Schneider-Kreuznach optics so the backplates have a ton or resolution for you to zoom in or to print large, like billboard large.

Each package has 30 wonderful backplates and costs $60, but you can buy all three for $150.

So what are you waiting for? Go create something beautiful!

P.S. You can always use all our CC-BY packages for free along with a link back to the store.
