DJI has unveiled its latest action camera, the Osmo Action 5 Pro. It promises revolutionary features and performance to meet the needs of both casual users and professional creators. The action camera has a 13.5-stop dynamic range, 40MP photo resolution, and groundbreaking stabilization, all of which are industry-first advancements that aren’t usually found in a small action camera.
The Osmo Action Pro 5 looks as though it will push the boundaries of what an action camera is capable of, with these new features and plenty of updated ones that build on the previous generation of Osmo Action cameras. And it’s still cheaper than a GoPro.
Key features
First, let’s look at the sensor size. The Osmo Action 5 Pro packs an impressive 40MP 1/1.3″ CMOS sensor with a wide 155° field of view (FOV), capturing high-resolution 8K photos and stunning video in up to 4K at 120fps. That’s pretty impressive for any camera these days, let alone a tiny action camera.
The 13.5-stop dynamic range ensures detail in both highlights and shadows, allowing for vivid footage even in challenging lighting conditions. The addition of a 10-bit D-Log M colour mode provides over a billion colours, enhancing the camera’s ability to record rich, dynamic scenes. And it doesn’t stop there: in low-light situations, the camera uses SuperNight mode, which uses advanced noise reduction algorithms to produce clearer, cleaner video footage.

Longer battery life
One of the most notable improvements in the Osmo Action 5 Pro is its 4-hour battery life, powered by a 1950mAh Battery Plus. The extended battery is capable of operating in extreme temperatures as low as -4°F. Plus, with fast charging, a 15-minute charge provides up to 2 hours of shooting time, perfect for those on the go.
The camera has 47GB of internal storage, optimized for smaller file sizes, so users can shoot more without worrying about running out of space. File transfers are also incredibly fast with Wi-Fi 6.0 and USB 3.0, offering wireless speeds of up to 80 MB/s.

Crystal-clear OLED display and vlogging-ready
The Osmo Action 5 Pro features dual high-brightness OLED touchscreens—a 2.5-inch rear display with 1000 cd/m² brightness and a 1.46-inch front screen at 800 cd/m². Both screens are designed for ease of use in direct sunlight, making it easier to frame shots, adjust settings, and review footage even in bright sunlight or snow. The intuitive UI automatically adapts whether the camera is used in portrait or landscape mode, and the screens are even sensitive enough to be used with wet hands.

Advanced stabilization and subject tracking
The Osmo Action 5 Pro uses RockSteady 3.0, which is DJI’s latest stabilization system. This reduces camera shake to deliver smooth, immersive footage. The new addition of HorizonSteady and HorizonBalancing keeps your footage level even during intense movement, keeping the horizon stable in both 2.7K60 and 4K60 video.
The Osmo Action 5 Pro also includes built-in subject centring and tracking, which is a first for an action camera. This feature dynamically adjusts the composition to keep the subject perfectly framed without the need for external stabilizers or gimbals.

Greater depths of waterproofing
The Osmo Action 5 Pro can be submerged up to 65.6 feet (20 meters) without the need for an additional case, making it perfect for underwater photography and diving. The camera also features a built-in air pressure gauge, which automatically starts and stops recording when entering or exiting water. For deeper dives, an optional waterproof case extends the camera’s protection down to 197 feet (60 meters).

Super slow motion and Pre-recording
This camera can capture breathtaking slow-motion shots with its 32x Super Slow Motion mode. Shooting at 1080p240, the camera can deliver the video equivalent of 960 fps when processed in post-production. The pre-recording feature ensures you never miss a moment by starting to capture footage before you even hit the record button, ideal for spontaneous action. Additionally, live photos can turn short, 3-second videos into dynamic stills.

Professional audio
For creators who prioritize audio, the Osmo Action 5 Pro comes equipped with three stereo microphones with DJI’s OsmoAudio system for clearer sound capture, which works even in windy conditions. It also supports DJI’s Mic 2 Transmitter via Bluetooth, enabling studio-quality audio recording without the need for a bulky receiver. External microphones can also be connected using an optional USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. Creators can also use Wi-Fi live streaming directly from the camera for seamless broadcasting from anywhere.

Additional smart features
- Timecode Sync: Streamlines multi-camera editing by synchronizing footage across devices.
- Highlight Marking: Quickly mark key moments during recording for easier editing later.
- Magnetic Quick Release: Allows for fast switching between mounts, while the horizontal-vertical protective frame makes it easy to capture vertical video.
- Mimo App Integration: DJI’s Mimo app enables users to preview footage, adjust settings, and edit directly on their smartphone, offering intuitive templates and quick-edit features like the One-Tap Edit.

Price and availability
The Osmo Action 5 Pro is available now from DJI’s online store and authorized retailers in two packages:
