Well, it’s no surprise: DJI has just announced DJI Mini SE 2, its latest addition to the Mini series. Photos recently leaked and showed us what it would look like, and now there’s more info on the company’s new product.

At $369, it’s the cheapest Mini drone so far, at least when it comes to the price at launch. But with great price comes great disappointment – it doesn’t support 4K shooting.

Like Mini SE and Mini 2, it also weighs under 249g, just enough to spare you from thinking about drone regulations in some parts of the world. It packs a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor, and in terms of resolution, it’s more of a DJI Mini SE than it is the DJI Mini 2: it shoots video at up to 2.7K and photos at up to 12MP. Basically, it’s marketed as a beginner-friendly drone, if you’re just starting out in aerial photography and video and still learning the basics.

While the new DJI Mini 2 SE is still not available for orders, DJI has shared its key features:

  • DJI O2 Transmission technology: A maximum video transmission range of 10 km with excellent anti-interference capabilities
  • High-quality imaging: A 3-axis gimbal and 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor that takes 12MP and photos shoots video at 2.7K HD
  • Extended flight time: Offers a 31-minute maximum flight time
  • Intuitive flight controls: Offers one-tap takeoff and landing, stable hovering, return to home feature
  • Intelligent features: QuickShots and Panorama deliver creative shooting possibilities
  • Level 5 wind resistance: At a wind speed of 10.7 m/s, the aircraft can still hover steadily and keep images stable

As I mentioned, the DJI Mini 2 SE will be priced at $369 for drone alone. If you’d like a DJI Mini 2 SE Fly More Combo, it will set you back $519. You have plenty of time to think if this is the drone for you, as it will become available starting 22 March 2023. We’ll make sure to update this article with full specs and links, so stay tuned.

Update March 16, 2023: The DJI Mini 2 SE is now available to pre-order, and it’s a little cheaper than the initially announced prices. The basic DJI Mini 2 SE package is available to pre-order now for $339. The DJI Mini 2 SE Fly More Combo package is also available to pre-order now for $489.
