Shortages and delays still seem to be the order of the day and Canon Japan has released their latest delayed product list with their usual “apology and guidance” status update. Amongst the products delayed in the latest update are the Canon EOS R3 and EOS R5c bodies, as well as the newly announced RF 800mm 5/6L IS USM and RF 1200mm f/8L USM lenses.

These delays are going to disappoint some potential customers, although they’re not really all that surprising. What is perhaps a little surprising, though, is that orders for the Canon EOS R3 and the RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM, might leave you waiting more than six months according to Canon’s statement.

The complete list includes a number of Canon’s new products besides those already mentioned above.

Apology and guidance regarding product supply status

Thank you for your continued patronage of Canon products.

Currently, we have received orders for each of the following products in excess of expectations, and due to the influence of global parts supply, delivery delays are occurring. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers and business partners.

The products are scheduled to be shipped one by one, but it is expected that it will take a lot of time for the new camera body EOS R3 and RF lens RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM.

We sincerely apologize for the long wait for our long-awaited customers. We will continue to take measures to ensure a stable supply of products so that we can deliver our products as soon as possible. Thank you kindly look forward for your understanding.

It will be shipped in sequence, but it may take more than half a year to deliver when you place a new order.

We plan to ship the products one by one, but it may take longer than usual to deliver.

While delays on the EOS R3 and RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM might mean a wait of at least six months, it seems like Canon expects to be able to ship the other items a little sooner. Exactly how much sooner, though, is unclear. A number of the products on the list, including the EOS R3, RF 14-35mm f/4L IS USM and RF 400mm f/2.8L IS USM also appeared in Canon’s delayed list from last October.
