“For me there are only two kinds of women, goddesses and doormats”, said Pablo Picasso, perhaps the most prominent artist of the 20th century.
A recent collaboration between photographer Steve Shaw and artist Gregory Siff, inspired by the 8 loves in Picasso’s life, seems to depict the former.
The process was a first for Siff who said “I’ve never really painted onto a body then into the piece and then back onto it”.
Siff speaks about the collaboration with the photographer, who is also the founder and editor in chief of Treats! Magazine, and their process to create their own muses:
“I’m trying to, you know, to make a volume of 8 different experiences.. this made me feel like rainbows, this cut me really hard, but look how it turned into the gold. The great paintings that I have made are the ones that really can like make you stay still and give you a little moment to be like “damn, I know where you’ve been””.
The video almost seems like a spoof with all the clichés, so if you don’t enjoy the BTS footage and the final images, perhaps you’ll get a chuckle out of the video itself.
