Are you hungry for a set of tonal manipulation filters for your black and white photography that are as easy to use as they are a low impact on your budget? Then look no further than the Snap-On® filters from ADOX.

In a dramatic departure from conventional round threaded glass filters used on camera lenses, these ADOX filters are flexible gelatin filters that push-fit into the ring surrounding the lens’ front element. These are a patented accessory that incorporates Cibachrome® dyes into a polymer base that provides each filter with a moderate amount of water resistance.

While Snap-On filters are not scratch-resistant, they are rugged enough to endure repeated installation and removal from a lens without tearing or loss of color. Even better, they are thin enough to carry an entire stack of filters for a variety of lens filter thread diameters inside a shirt pocket.

Snap-on filter installed
Just push the Snap-On filter into place inside the flange surrounding the lens’ front element.

Each Snap-On filter is ringed with a set of serrated teeth that enable the filter to grip against the inside of the flange that surrounds the front element of a camera lens. Even a lens that lacks filter threads will be able to hold a Snap-On filter in place. When it’s time to switch filters, there is a small grab tab for easy removal. It’s an innovative design that is affordable, too.

It’s a Snap Using These Filters

The best place to purchase Snap-On filters is at FreeStyle Photo and Imaging Supplies. Priced between $8.49 and $9.99, these filters are also available in a large assortment of diameters. FreeStyle sells red, green, yellow, and 85B tungsten color conversion filters in 39mm, 43mm, 46mm, 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, and 77mm diameter sizes. In the case of those three tonal manipulation filters, the red filter can be used with infrared films, the green filter for portraits and landscapes, and the yellow filter can adjust gray tones for cloudsPhotographer captures rare ethereal heavenly clouds in Siberia, blue sky and flora.

Each photographic effect can be quickly sampled with ADOX Snap-On filters.

Naturally, some digital cameras include built-in filter options along with a monochrome color mode setting. But for cameras, like the Kodak AZ425, these Snap-On filters provide an ideal enhancement, especially for camera lenses that lack filter threads. And that’s money in the bank, along with a complete set of tonal manipulation filters that fit inside an envelope.

Enjoy.
