If you’ve been considering switching to a Sony mirrorless camera, this could be the right time. Sony has announced an offer that allows you to trade in your old (but working) DSLR or mirrorless for some of their models, including the new Sony Alpha a9.
If you decide to engage in the “trade up,” you’ll get the value of your old camera, plus up to $500 bonus offer. The offer doesn’t only include the cameras, but also a variety of full-frame lenses and accessories. And depending on the Sony camera you’d like to buy, you can trade in any camera model you currently own.
Now to tell you some more details. Buying the Sony a9 will get you the highest $500 bonus on top of the value of your camera. However, Sony only accepts specific cameras for this trade-in, and here’s the list:
Canon 6D, Canon 6D II, Canon 5D Mark II, 5D Mark III, Canon 5Ds, Canon 5Ds R, 5D Mark IV, Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 1DX, Canon 1DX II, Nikon D600, Nikon D610, Nikon D800, Nikon D800E, Nikon D810, Nikon D810A, Nikon D750, Nikon D3, Nikon D3s, Nikon D4, Nikon D4s, Nikon D5, Leica M9, Leica M9P, Leica Monochrom, Leica M246, Leica M240, Leica M10, Leica SL, Leica M262, Sony α7, Sony α7R, Sony α7S, Sony α7 II, Sony α7S II, Sony α7R II, Sony α900, Sony α850, Sony α99, Sony α99 II
If you’d prefer an a7R II, a7S II or a7 II, the good news is that you can bring any old DSLR or mirrorless camera. You’ll get a $300 bonus for the a7R II and a7S II, and $100 for the a7 II.
Keep in mind that the offer is only available in the US. If you’re interested, you have time to make the decision and trade in your old camera until September 30, 2017. With the trade-in value and the bonus, you can get a pretty good deal, depending on the camera you own now. For more information, visit Sony’s website, and let us know what you decided.

Time to go to look around on eBay.
Yes … absolutely feed that gear acquisition syndrome and switch. It hasn’t made your end result better to date but it is sure to THIS time.
good offering, but sticking to my K-1, thanks.
They want to study how others deal with heat and battery performance?
How is trade-in value calculated? That crucial detail is missing from Sony’s site.
Still using a 5D2
Maybe I can scrounge up an old D40?!
Staying put
I took two spills on a bicycle with my Pentax KS-2, hit the ground hard and the darned camera and lenses are still working, The screen on my laptop is done for. No, I would not trade,
