For those of you who love nature photography, here’s another treat from this genre. This year’s Nature inFocus Photography Awards have just announced its winners. And like every year, they’ll make you take a deep look into the images, and perhaps into yourself and into how you can contribute to nature’s conservation.
This year, the contest broke its last year record with nearly 16,000 images submitted from over 1,250 photographers representing more than 38 countries. Among the winners, you’ll anything from untouched nature and serene animal portraits to heartbreaking nature scenes. I was particularly impressed by the scenes captured by this year’s Portfolio winner Rukhiya Mohammed. She was awarded for a powerful photo story tracing the impacts of deforestation, mining, cultivation, construction, and tourism on the mountains. The landscapes filled with contrast blew me away… And made me sad.

About Nature inFocus Photography Awards
The Nature inFocus Photography Awards celebrates photographers who document extraordinary natural history moments and spotlight critical conservation issues. Over time, the contest has grown into a truly global celebration of wildlife photography. Founded in India in 2014, it has drawn local photographers as well as those from across the globe.
“What began as a national platform has evolved into a diverse international community of photographers,” says Rohit Varma, co-founder of Nature inFocus.
“Every year, the submissions reveal fresh perspectives on the natural world and shed light on urgent conservation challenges. The growing number of participants and the expanding geographical reach reflect just how global this platform has become.”
The contest accepts entries from both adults and young photographers. It rewards images across eight categories, with Coexistence being introduced this year:
- Animal Portraits
- Animal Behaviour
- Conservation Photography
- Creative Nature Photography
- Wildscape & Animals in Their Habitat
- Portfolio
- Coexistence
