First photos leak of Samyang’s upcoming AF 75mm f/1.8 for Fuji X

Samyang seems to be working on a new autofocus 75mm f/1.8 lens, according to a leaked promotional image. What makes this different from their existing autofocus 75mm f/1.8 lens? Well, it looks like this one’s not going to be available for just Sony E Mount. This one’s coming for Fuji X mount, which means this is also likely going to be an APS-C lens. The previous Samyang 75mm f/1.8 for Sony is full-frame.
There’s no word yet on when the lens will be officially released, although it marks the second autofocus lens in Samyang’s X mount lineup since Fuji opened up the system to third parties. It joins Samyang’s 12mm f/2 for Fuji X, but with two lenses at such extremes, when are they going to start filling in the rest of the range in between?
No specs have been leaked along with the above image, which shows two angles of the lens. The text in the front view of the lens is a little too small to make out any details such as filter diameter, minimum focus distance or whatever happens to be written on it. On the side view, however, we can see a switch, presumably allowing the photographer to switch between auto and manual focus modes at will.
Beyond that, there’s not really much else to say just yet. It has a 75mm focal length, a maximum aperture of f/8 and it’s coming for at least Fuji X. Given that Samyang already has a 75mm f/1.8 for Sony E mount, I’m not so sure we’ll see an E mount version of this one for Sony’s crop bodies. We won’t see an RF mount version, probably won’t see a Z mount version, and there’s really no point making an L mount version, given that there aren’t any APS-C L mount bodies except the discontinued Leica CL.
This will make for an interesting portrait lens for Fuji shooters, offering a field of view equivalent to about a 112.5mm focal length on full frame. A little longer than some might use for portraits, but for outdoor location stuff, it could be perfect.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more!

wut? what are you on about here? it was already also and APS-C lens, but just for sony…
The Samyang 75mm f/1.8 for Sony E Mount is full-frame, not APS-C – as you’d have discovered if you’d actually clicked on the linked article (or searched for the lens at pretty much any retailer who sells it around the world).

it’s not dedicated to APS-C, but that doesn’t mean you can’t use it on an APS-C camera. you can use sony full frame lenses on sony crop bodies. your article implies the opposite
You’ve just contradicted yourself. “It was already also and APS-C lens” – Those are the words that you said, I translated to English in my head to figure out what you were trying to say.
The article did not imply that. You inferred that. That’s on you. Nowhere did it state or suggest that the full-frame lens could not be used on an APS-C body, but please, do tell me, how can the full-frame Sony E lens be used on an APS-C Fuji X body?
APS-C lenses are typically also smaller and cheaper than their full-frame counterparts – even with the same focal length and aperture.
Again, what you inferred from the article is on you. Thanks for playing.
it was already also an APS-C lens = if it’s a full frame lens, meaning it can cover the whole full frame sensor, it can also cover the smaller APS-C sensor
again:
talking about E-mount compatibility here. there is an E-mount version but you’re not sure there will be another E-mount version of the same lens?
An APS-C lens is designed for APS-C cameras, it does not cover the sensor on full-frame cameras. So, a full-frame lens and an APS-C lens are not the same thing even though both will work on APS-C cameras.
It’s not the same lens. Go try trolling somebody else with your nonsense. :)
