Would you pay $850 for a “photojournalist jacket”?

Canadian brand Canada Goose sells high-quality (and thus pretty expensive) winter clothing. Some of it could be interesting for outdoor and landscape photographers who spend a lot of time in harsh conditions… But there’s a particularly interesting jacket aimed at photojournalists. And its price is mere $850.
According to Canada Goose, the jacket was “created in partnership with a photojournalist to stand up to the changing climates and situations they often find themselves in.” Speaking of “situations” photojournalists can find themselves in, I wonder if the jacket has a built-in bulletproof vest. “This jacket is crafted from our Tri-Durance SS fabric to block harsh winds and rain,” the company writes. “Reinforced shoulders and pockets add durability, while side seam zippers open up for range of motion and venting.” So, I guess no bullet-proof vest.
Joke aside, I understand that all clothing from Canada Goose is high-end and pretty pricey. There are people who can afford it, but I wonder if photojournalists are among them. I live in Serbia, where $850 is about two average monthly salaries. But even in Canada, I’d say $850 for a jacket is too much if you have a photojournalist’s earnings.
Maybe this jacket is made for those who can afford a $24K limited edition Leica. I mean, if you can afford a $24K camera, I guess $850 for a jacket is pocket money. But either way, no matter how awesome the jacket may be, I feel that the brand has missed its target group.
Taking into account both my salary and my priorities, I’d never buy an $850 jacket. I’d rather spend that money on a decent vacation, or approximately 40 concert tickets (my heart jumps for joy at a very thought of this).
And you? Would you pay $850 for a jacket? If not, what would you rather spend that money on?

Maybe a pant
Hard pass on that.
I spent NZ$850 (Jacket) and NZ$600 (over trousers) on a set of Swazi goretex one tough mother raingear, but I live where the winter is cold, wet and snowy, so it was worth spending that much on the right gear to stay warm and dry, in fact one weekend of quad riding and photography I managed to stay warm and dry despite their being a sudden blizzard that occured. So I guess you spend what you need to to suit your needs… it only takes getting cold and wet one with crappy raingear for you to change your mind….
I would buy three Haukland – Bekleidung für Fotografen – Photographer’s Clothing . This is the best and only 5in1 jacket for photographers :) BTW it’s my company ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2dZR-zpgxU
It’s like buying a satin jacket that says “Stuntman” on the sleeves. Everybody knows the truth.
I’d also spent the money on three haukland 5in1 jackets for photographers. :) Check out https://haukland.de/?lang=en to learn more. We just started EU wide shipping last week. No Kickstarter, it is a real thing, selling since April 2019 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. US Shipping starts End of May 2020 ?

I’ve been a PJ for about 30 years and the most useful jacket I’ve come across is an Austrian paratroopers jacket. Robust construction with lots of big, pockets and can be worn over a fleece liner when necessary. https://www.keepshooting.com/austrian-army-paratrooper-jacket.html
I’d buy half an L lens….
Honestly that’s cheap for them
Looks like a rejected design for a Starfleet Away Team jacket.
I have a really great vest I got in a second hand shop, but I guess some people have more money than brains!
