The natural consequence of a wedding often seems to be divorce these days. And, as photographers, we have to adapt to the times. So, it makes sense for us to jump on these opportunities when we can. Like photographer Tom Byrd, professional divorce photographer.
Reconciliation does happen, and when it does I’ll capture it. But those photos don’t go on the website. And I charge double.
– Tom Byrd
Of course, Tom Byrd isn’t real. Nor is his profession as a divorce photographer. And while this “Mini-Mocks” video from Comedy Central is very amusing, it does make me think of some of the seemingly strange photography jobs I’ve seen over the years.
Funerals, for example, is something I would have never even considered having a photographer for. And I’ve spoken to a few photographers who think it’s a very weird thing to photograph. But from what I’ve been told by a number of photographers who do cover such events, it can be quite a good business avenue to pursue. Their clients are usually very pleased with the results, too – as it’s often the first time in years that so many of their friends and family have been together.
I’m still not sure that divorce photography could ever become a real thing, though. But, maybe.
