As much as we’d like for our clients to just naturally know how to pose for a photograph, we have to be realistic; it’s never going to happen. Part of the portrait photographers job, in fact, is to be able to tell their subjects how to pose and present themselves in front of the camera and, just like our subjects, we’re not always the best at posing, either. Fortunately, supermodel Coco Rocha (aka “The Queen of Pose” ) has teamed up with iconic photographer, Steven Sebring, to publish the super useful book Study Of Pose.
The publisher describes the invaluable book as such:
Supermodel Coco Rocha’s uncanny ability to strike distinctive, camera-ready poses at an astounding speed has earned her international fame throughout the fashion industry… In Study of Pose, Sebring and Rocha have documented 1,000 unique poses—theatrical, vibrant, elegant, dramatic, and unlike anything the fashion or art worlds have seen before.
Study of Pose features Rocha in a simple white leotard—bending, jumping, sitting, standing, and everything in between. The result is a gorgeous and arresting look at the potential of the human form.
Packaged in a beautiful black case with two black satin bookmarks and a four-color bellyband with French folds…”
As though having 1000 poses sitting on your bookshelf just waiting to be used wasn’t inspiring enough, there’s also a companion app for mobile devices that allows users to casually flip through the different poses. If you see one you like, the interactive app allows you to rotate the images for a seamless 360-degree view, thanks to Sebring’s 360-degree camera rig. Pretty sweet stuff.
The books are expected to ship the last week of October and are available for pre-order on Amazon.
