If you’re a recent DJI Phantom 4 owner that was upset by the price drop after the announcement of the Mavic Pro, then you’re going to love this one. British drone retailer Drones Direct are offering a 24 carat gold plated DJI Phantom 4 for sale. This too, has had its price reduced, dropping from £21,999 (around $27k) to a more reasonable £19,999 (about $24.5k).

It offers all the same features as the original Phantom 4, but with bling. Drones Direct calls it “the world’s most lavish drone”, and they’re probably not wrong. Unfortunately, the gold plating does not extend to the controller, but the drone itself will definitely stand out in the air.

If it seems somewhat excessive, then you’re right, it is. Designed for the “more money than sense” crowd who want to spend on something special to impress their friends, it’s certainly a unique offering.

If you’re not quite at the stage where you can afford to drop £20k on a drone, they do offer interest free finance plans. You could pay £1,666 a month for the next 12 months to own your very own 24k gold plated drone. Or you could, you know, just buy a regular Phantom 4 every month for the next year, or a Matrice 600 with a Ronin every four months.

I can’t imagine that anybody buying such a drone would actually use it in anger. Perhaps they’d pull it out to show off around the garden during dinner parties, but that’s about it. I certainly wouldn’t want to have to deal with the repair bills for crashing it, no matter how much money I may have.

What do you think? Are you already figuring out how to tell your significant other that you’ve sold the car to fund one? Or are you happy with your normal, plain, regular Phantom 4? Let us know in the comments.

Given the number of abandoned supercars and such that seem to be out there in various parts of the world, yes, I can see somebody buying this just for the hell of it.

    Watching it fly away: “Priceless.”

It’s like a fancy car. Doesn’t matter how it looks if a shitty driver is in the driver seat

It’s so expensive they couldn’t even get one for a product shot.
