Viltrox has just announced a bunch of new anamorphic lenses in its new Viltrox EPIC series. They’re available in five different focal lengths for three different lens mounts. They cover a solid range from 25 to 100mm, with bright T2.0 apertures.

These full-frame lenses offer a 1.33x anamorphic squeeze for super wide 2.35:1 aspect ratio footage, all wrapped in sleek white packaging. The colour choice is a little interesting, but they do look pretty smart.

Viltrox Epic Series Cinema Lenses

The Viltrox Epic Series, the company says, is the culmination of fifteen years of R&D. As such, they say they offer minimal focus breathing and consistent optical performance between different focal lengths. There are five of them in total.

  • Viltrox Epic 25mm T2.0
  • Viltrox Epic 35mm T2.0
  • Viltrox Epic 50mm T2.0
  • Viltrox Epic 75mm T2.0
  • Viltrox Epic 100mm T2.0

Oddly, the 25mm and 100mm lenses are going to available only in PL mount. The 35mm, 50mm and 75mm lenses, on the other hand, will come in PL, Sony E and Leica L mount varieties. Fortunately, PL can be adapted to pretty much any mirrorless mount, so they may be the best option for most anyway.

Price and Availability

Prices for individual lenses vary from $3,199 to $3,999 each, depending on focal length and mount. The complete set containing all five lenses is available to pre-order now for $17,299.

This is a big monster of a lens. The Viltrox 30-300mm T4.0 Zoom 10x PL offers, as the name suggests a huge 30-300mm focal PL mount length with a consistent maximum T4.0 aperture throughout the range. This is not a lens for the feint of heart, as evidenced by the big handled on top.

Of course, it’s a full-frame lens with a 46.5mm image projection circle. Viltrox hasn’t confirmed whether it’s a parfocal lens, but given its target market, I would certainly hope so. It’s not exactly an inexpensive or inconspicuous lens.

The lens was first teased back in March. Mount options were only being speculated on back then, but now it’s confirmed to be PL mount only. Again, though, you can adapt that to pretty much anything you need.

Price and Availability

Little is known about this lens just yet besides the basics. Viltrox says that it will be officially announced later in the year, although it’s projected to have a price of around $65,000.

Viltrox sure has outgrown that “budget” label, huh?

    Hi there.
If I’m not mistaken, those lenses were announced in January 2023.
