Motion designer Christian Stangl has shown us some incredible videos shot in space. This time, he chose quite the opposite of the vast universe and filmed a timelapse from up close. Using macro lenses or a microscope, he shot an incredible timelapse named Dry Out, showing various plants shriveling as they dry out.

“Life needs water. But this fluid tends to evaporate over time into a gaseous state,” Christian writes in the video description. “Drying out is a chemical process that takes hours, days or even weeks.” He shot more than hundred sequences of various organic motives as they were slowly drying out: leaves, fruits, succulents, even a fish!

Just like in Christian’s previous work, the music was created by his brother Wolfgang Stangl. Christian writes that he was captivated by “the visual aesthetics and drama of these transformations.” And together with his brother who composed the music, he managed to turn them into a trippy, gorgeous and a bit gloomy piece of art.
