In a world filled with conspiracy theories these days, there’s one old one that still just refuses to die. The number of people who still believe the moon landings didn’t happen is still pretty high – which should come as no surprise given the path the planet’s taken over the last year or six.
But this video from College Humor popped up on their Facebook page yesterday explaining why faking them simply could not have been possible. It was originally posted to their YouTube channel a while ago, and they even got Emmy Award-winning forensic motion picture analyst Mark Shubin to explain why the footage definitely wasn’t shot in a studio using real demonstrable physics of light that you can try yourself if you don’t believe him.
Aside from reinforcing the somewhat obvious implications of how light and physics work – in ways that we can observe in our daily lives – the video shoots down a number of other facile theories that have no bearing on how the real world works either.
That’s the beauty of cameras and light. They have very specific ways of working. And if the technology just doesn’t exist to fake it, then how could it have been faked?

They had the technology to land on the Moon, but they didn’t have the light to make a fake scene. Got it.
Humans are about to travel to Mars.. And some folks still believe that the Moon lannding was staged. Cute. ?

I designed a special mirror that reflects light directly back at the sender, even if the mirror is up to 40 degrees off-the-perpendicular. It was placed on the moon in 1969.
Orbits of the moon since that date show the mirror sitting there on the moon surface. A laser was also bounced off that mirror every day until 2009 (40th anniversary of placing it there). The beam return-time was measured, which is what led to the discovery that the moon is slowly moving away from earth. Those measurements also added one more piece of evidence supporting the Einstein theory of relativity (that specific proof is beyond my mental pay grade though!).
So…. if the moon shot was a hoax, how the heck did we get that mirror on the moon that we then used daily for 40 years???

Maybe I’m missing something, but couldn’t you have just used the sun for the lighting on earth? The notion that it’s a hoax is ridiculous, it just seems to me we could use the exact same light source we would have had on the moon, albeit that would have created its own challenges elsewhere.
If Americans were on the Moon back in 1969, then why they are not on the Moon now? Nobody is able to provide an articulate answer. I better believe in dwarves and elves than this stupid ‘Moon landing’.?
Really? No one has ever been able to logically answer this for you….I will. It’s actually very easy to understand. You see firing a rocket into space that took over 20 years to build from the 40s to the 60s (using tech of that time) then continuing to use those rockets into the 70s essentially 30 years later….means that at some point they need to be replaced. Just curious how long do cars normally last? Right, but we are talking about a rocket, the largest evert built in the history of mankind. And we made a bunch of them from the 50s-60s. So to replace them isn’t just a drop in the water. Money. Money is the ONLY reasons we are not on Mars right now. Then you say we have the money! You do but we can’t agree where to spend it! Among other things. Again facts.
Don’t forget, the films of that ‘landing’ are ‘lost’. Very convenient.?

Supporters of a certain former American President are disproportionately inclined to believe conspiracy theories. Strange, innit?
Working in the defense contractor industry and with considerable highly intelligent people I have come across this issue several times. The “lunar landing lie” people use conjecture, doughs, and unsubstantiated lies as their bastille for their conspiracy theories. What I have learned is you just have to say, “I agree to disagree”…..and move along doggies.
