Well, there’s not much that we didn’t already know about the specs of these two lenses, thanks to a pretty much total leak of everything a couple of weeks ago, but Tamron has now officially announced their new 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD and 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III VXD G2 full-frame zoom lenses for Sony E mount cameras.

Described by Tamron as a “travel zoom”, the 35-150mm f/2-2.8 is the first Sony E mount zoom lens that maxes out at an f/2 aperture. It features Tamron’s VXD motor, which they say offers fast and precise autofocus and is compatible with Sony’s Fast Hybrid AF and Eye AF systems. The 28-75mm f/2.8 G2 is the second iteration of a pre-existing lens that also sees the newest VXD motors.

Tamron 35-150mm f/2-2.8 and 28-75mm f/2.8 images and specs leak ahead of October announcement

Last month, Tamron announced the development of a new 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD zoom lens for Sony E-Mount. They claimed it to be the “world’s first mirrorless zoom lens with a maximum wide-open aperture of f/2”. Of course, it’s not and came with caveats, which seems to be the way with Sony stuff. Along with this lens, Tamron also announced the development of a 28-75mm f/2.8 zoom.

Both lenses are expected to be announced on October 28th, according to Nokishita. But that’s not all they said. They also posted all of the images and complete specs brochures for both lenses.

Well, either the rumours were wrong or Tamron’s hand was forced by all the leaks lately, but they’ve now officially announced the new Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.34 Di III-A VC VXD APS-C mirrorless lens. Initially, it’s available for Sony E mount and it will be coming for Fujifilm X at a future date.

It is possible that the rumoured September 24th announcement date wasn’t entirely inaccurate, though. Today seems to be an announcement and pre-orders opening up. So, it’s possible that September 24th is when it actually starts shipping. At least for the Sony version.

Tamron’s upcoming 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 lens for Fuji X and Sony E to be priced at $699

Tamron’s upcoming 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VX D lens for Sony E and Fuji X mounts, which first saw a development announcement in July is expected to be announced on September 24th (in Sony flavour – Fuji will come later). All the details, along with complete specs have already been leaked. That is to say, all details except the price.

I guessed back in July that it would probably sit somewhere around the $650 mark when comparing to something like Nikon’s 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR and it seems I wasn’t far off. A number of sources including Nokishita are now saying that the new Tamron lens will cost $699. It also looks like B&H has jumped the gun again, by putting up a listing along with all the photos, some marketing speak and a few of the specs.

Tamron’s upcoming 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A VC VXD autofocus lens for Fuji X and Sony E mount, for which a development announcement was made last month, looks like it might be set for a release announcement next month. September 24th, to be precise, according to a tweet from Nokishita. The tweet says that Tamron has now “released the catalog” of the lens, attached to the tweet as a PDF, which offers up the complete specs.

Tamron claims “world’s first” f/2 max aperture mirrorless zoom with the new 35-150mm f/2-2.8

It looks like Tamron is taking a leaf out of Sony’s book, claiming records with hidden caveats. First, we had Sony claiming that the A7c was the world’s “smallest and lightest full-frame camera” – which it objectively wasn’t – and then Sony started adding caveats to the claim. Now, Tamron’s doing it with, perhaps not surprisingly, their new Sony E mount 35-150mm f/2-2.8 Di III VXD.

They’re claiming that it’s the “World’s first mirrorless zoom lens with a maximum wide-open aperture of f/2”. And on the surface, the claim is obviously nonsense, because Canon’s got the RF 28-70mm f/2L USM lens, and Panasonic has the 10-25mm f/1.7 and a new 25-50mm f/1.7 zoom on the way. So, yeah, even the manufacturers are clickbaiting these days.

Tamron’s new 18-300mm is the first 3rd party autofocus zoom lens for Fuji X systems

Since Fuji decided they were opening up their X mount to 3rd party lens manufacturers to be able to make autofocus lenses, we’ve seen a few new releases trickle out from manufacturers like Tokina, Viltrox, Pergear and even Zeiss. But so far (unless I’m mistaken – and I’m sure all the Fuji shooters will correct me in the comments if I am), it seems all those 3rd party autofocus Fuji X mount lenses have been prime lenses.

Well now, Tamron has announced the development of not only its first lens with a Fuji X mount, but the first 3rd party autofocus zoom lens for the Fuji X mount system, the Tamron 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 Di III-A2 VC VXD (what a mouthful!) APS-C superzoom lens. Coming later this year, it’s also going to be available in Sony E mount flavour, too.

Tamron announces a fast ultra-wide 11-20mm f/2.8 zoom lens for APS-C Sony E Mount

Tamron’s doubling down today. As well as the new 150-500mm f/5-6.7 full-frame lens we posted about earlier, Tamron has also announced their new 11-20mm f/2.8 Di III-A RXD ultra-wide zoom lens. It’s designed for Sony APS-C E mount cameras, and proclaims to be the world’s first ultra-wide-angle zoom lens for Sony E mount APS-C cameras with an f/2.8 aperture.

Despite that wide aperture, though, it’s a pretty small and lightweight lens, coming in at a mere 350g – significantly lighter than the 11-16mm f/2.8 APS-C lens that Tokina released last year for Nikon and Canon DSLRs.

Tamron has today announced their new 150-500mm f/5-6.7 Di III VC VXD lens for full-frame Sony E mount mirrorless cameras. This is the company’s first ultra-telephoto zoom lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras that reaches a 500mm focal length.

As the name suggests, it features Tamron’s Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive (VXD) linear motor for “excellent quietness and agile performance” as well as Tamron’s Vibration Compensation (VC) for “high-level image stabilisation” when shooting handheld.
