When you think headshot photography, it’s not long before the name Peter Hurley springs to mind. As an actor and model turned photographer, he’s become one of the go-to guys for headshot photography.
But shooting headshots is more than about just having a great camera or lighting, it’s about psychology and the connections you make with your subjects. We caught up with Peter at PhotoPlus 2019 to find out more about his approach to headshot photography.
Skylum has come a long way since the Macphun days. Since breaking out of their Mac-only shell and expanding out into Windows, their software has come on leaps and bounds for both platforms in terms of both capabilities as well as performance. We caught up with Skylum CEO, Alex Tsepko, at PhotoPlus 2019 in New York last month to have a chat about the new features coming to Luminar 4.
Irix shocked us all recently by announcing that their 45mm prime lens was going to be released as a T1.5 cinema lens first, and not the f/1.4 we’ve been expecting since Photokina 2016. Irix were at PhotoPlus 2019 this year, showing off the new Irix 45mm T1.5 prime, along with the 11mm T4.3 and 150mm T3.0 cinema lenses. So, we stopped by to take a look and chat about Irix’s plans for the future.

When we found out they were going to be at PhotoPlus 2019, we had to go and see it in person for ourselves. So, we did. John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.
