Vazen has unveiled their new 135mm T2.8 1.8x anamorphic lens for full-frame cameras in EF and PL mount. This completes their 3-lens 1.8x full-frame anamorphic lineup adding to the Vazen 85mm T2.8 1.8x anamorphic full-frame lens announced in August 2020 and the Vazen 50mm T2.1 1.8x anamorphic full-frame lens announced last May.

As with Vazen’s previous full-frame 1.8x anamorphic lenses, this one’s not cheap, coming in at the same $8,000 price tag as the last two, although you can buy the complete set of three in a nice custom hard case for the bargain price of $19,999 (a $4,001 discount). If you’ve already bought some, though and end up getting the 135 to complete your set, the case is available separately for $300.

It had to come eventually and now it’s finally here. Sony has announced its new Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II lens to go along with its recently released FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM OSS II announced last October. Like its predecessor, the Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II is designed for full-frame Sony E mount cameras and comes with a number of new improvements that should help the shooting workflow.

Sony says it’s the “world’s lightest f/2.8 standard zoom lens”, but we usually have to take Sony’s “World’s” claims with a pinch of salt and a few caveats. In this case, though, weighing in at only 695g, they might actually have a point. It’s 20% less than the original and significantly less than its Nikon and Canon counterparts.

Edelkrone has announced its successor to the Edelkrone JibONE, announced in 2020. No, it’s not the JibTWO, it’s the JibONE V2. It offers all of the features of the original. In fact, according to the specs, it’s pretty much identical. It’s the same size, the same weight, has the same mounting options, same load capacity, same camera travel, same speeds, same power inputs and power consumption, same everything.

But it does have some new features, too. It comes with better wireless connectivity with a longer range, improved power management with auto power-off, an information screen with instant feedback for the user to see what it’s doing and can be fully wired when you’re shooting somewhere with a lot of interference. And right now, there’s a $300 launch discount that makes it cheaper than the original.

Samsung has announced their newest portable SSD, the Samsung T7 Shield. Now, on first glance, especially given the name, it might just sound like a regular Samsung T7 drive in a fancy rugged enclosure and… Well, yeah, that’s pretty much exactly what it is. But now that the world is opening back up and photographers and filmmakers are getting back on the road to start shooting in extreme locations, backup storage that can handle those extreme conditions is handy.

The Samsung T7 Shield offers the same transfer speed as the regular Samsung T7, with sequential read speeds of up to 1,050MB/sec and sequential write speeds of up to 1,000MB/sec over USB 3.2 Gen 2. It only weighs 98g, adding 40g onto the T7, but can handle drops of up to three metres and it’s IP65 certified for water and dust resistance.

Core SWX has updated its Powerbase lineup, initially launched in 2019, with two new batteries. There’s the PB Edge Link, a 70Wh V-mount battery that sports a 7.4v output port for your DSLR or mirrorless camera, as well as Type-A 5v and Type-C Power Delivery USB ports and two 14.8v d-tap ports. According to Core SWX, this battery is capable of powering a Sony A7 series camera for over 12 hours.

The other is the new PB Edge Lite, a 47Wh battery that is primarily designed to live underneath your camera and provides a little over 8 hours of use on a Sony A7 series camera. Like the PB Edge Link, there are two 14.8v d-tap sockets, a 7.4v port for your camera, but no USB-PD. Instead, you get a pair of Type-C USB sockets capable of delivering 5v. It’s very similar to the original PB Edge Base, but without V-mount connectivity.

Prolycht has announced its new Orion 675 FS full-spectrum colour LED spotlight, which it claims is the most powerful colour-tunable spotlight in the world. It uses a six-colour LED “Hyperlight Color” engine that mixes red, green, blue, amber, cyan and lime to create a wide colour gamut that Prolycht says “surpasses traditional RGBW or RGBWW technology” to produce “super accurate and pleasing” skin tones.

Set to 5600K, Prolycht says it’s brighter than a 1200 Watt HMDI and at 3200K it’s equal in output to a massive 5,000 Watt tungsten. When it comes to other LED spots on the market, it says that it’s brighter than a 600W daylight-0nly LED spot and three times brighter than any other manufacturer’s RGBLAC  spotlight. Those are some pretty bold claims!

Accsoon, makers of the popular low budget CineEye series video transmitters for watching your camera’s signal on your smartphone or tablet are stepping things up a notch with a dedicated video transmitter and receiver pair that you can hook up to actual monitors. It’s called the CineView HE and it offers transmission distances from an HDMI camera to an HDMI monitor, smartphone, tablet or computer with a range of up to 1200ft.

Accsoon says the CineView HE has less than 60ms of latency making any lag “virtually imperceptible”. It also offers dual-band transmission, sending the signal simultaneously over 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz frequencies to help eliminate interference and make it “inherently more stable than its rivals”. You can even connect the receiver to your computer over Type-C USB and use it as a capture device for live streaming.

Sirui’s new “Jupiter” full-frame cine lens lineup includes 24mm, 35mm & 50mm T2 macro primes and 28-85mm T3.2 zoom

Sirui has announced a new line of full-frame cine lenses known as the Jupiter series. The line is kicking off with four lenses including a 24mm T2, 35mm T3 and 50mm T2 prime lenses, all of which are macro lenses, as well as a 28-85mm T3.2 full-frame cine zoom. And, like pretty much all Sirui lenses, they’re being crowdfunded and launched via Indiegogo.

The three primes match each other in physical dimension, for easy switching out on camera rigs, with what they say is minimal focus breathing and will have a 92mm filter thread. The 28-85mm T3.2 zoom is a parfocal lens, so doesn’t require focus adjustment as you zoom in and out – very handy for ensuring focus and then pulling back to compose your scene.
