Sony World Photography Awards 2025 celebrates stunning regional winners

The Sony World Photography Awards (SWPA) has unveiled the 2025 National and Regional Award winners. Like every year, the selection showcases an incredible range of visual storytelling from across the globe. The amazing images highlight the immense creativity and diverse perspectives within the global photography community.

The National and Regional Awards are designed to support and uplift local photographic talent by providing a platform for recognition and exposure. This year, the contest saw over 419,000 submissions from more than 200 countries and territories. But in the final selection, photographers from 56 countries were honored. Their winning images, selected from the Open competition, reflect the best single shots taken over the past year. The winners receive Sony gear, and their work will be featured in the Sony World Photography Awards exhibition at London’s Somerset House and its prestigious annual photography book.

These regional winners offer glimpses into a variety of themes and perspectives. They include intimate moments, dramatic landscapes, and various cultural reflections. Each photo tells a unique story, but they come together to paint a broad and colorful picture of life worldwide.

But as you know, there is more to come. On April 16, 2025, SWPA will reveal the overall winners for the Open, Youth, Student, and Professional competitions. Their work will be part of a larger exhibition at Somerset House from April 17 to May 5. With so many remarkable regional winners already recognized, I can’t wait to see the final selection!
