The reFocus Awards, a global community of photographers, has announced the winners of its 2024 Black & White Photo Contest. If you enjoy black and white photography, these are a real feast for the eyes.

Established in 2022, the reFocus Awards is a global community of photographers dedicated to celebrating the lasting power and indomitable spirit photography. It’s dedicated to photographers who want to discover and advance their careers, and it honors incredible talent at all levels. This is why the contest features both Professional and Non-Professional categories.

This year’s Professional winner is Roberta Vagliani, with a captivating photo, The Right to Know. “I was in a school in Zanzibar where these children were intent on listening to the lesson,” Roberta explained. “I sat in the last row and waited for someone to turn and look at me. Children are curious, so it had to happen, and after a few minutes, it did.”

In the Non-Professional category, the winner is Karlynne Wintels and her photo that I absolutely love, Feline harmony. The Dutch photographer took this photo in a sleepy fishing town near Istanbul, Turkey. She had joined a photography workshop and was out shooting with a local photographer when she spotted this ordinary, yet so remarkable scene:
