All About Photo (AAP) is one of those magazines that’s all about the art of photography. It also has several photo contests, and the winners of All About Photo Awards 2022 have just been announced.
The first place was awarded to Marcus Yam from the USA for his striking portrait taken in Gaza City. But there are many more amazing photos in the jury’s selection, so let’s take a look.
Marcus took his winning image on the evening of 25 May 2021 in Gaza City, four days after a cease-fire was declared in the 11-day battle between Palestinian militant factions and Israeli forces. “Gaza is a small place, and it was full of news photographers. Dozens of photojournalists descended on the scene of the vigil, with most of them taking their pictures at sunset,” the photographer explained. He perched on a nearby mound of rubble, waiting patiently for a quieter and more authentic moment. “It came just as a full moon was rising.” The resulting image is not one of the war photos filled with tension and terror. Instead, it’s a pensive portrait that draws you right in, yet it’s dramatic enough to show a lot more than you see in the image.
The second place was rewarded to Debdatta Chakraborty from India. The third-place winner is Konstantinos Tsakalidis from Greece or another dramatic portrait taken during fires in Evia in 2021.
All About Photo started as an online magazine dedicated to showcasing the incredible work of photographers from around the world. Its goal is to help artists gain the exposure and recognition they deserve through competitions, articles, featured portfolios, and print edition of ‘AAP Magazine’. Now in its 7th year, All About Photo Awards – The Mind’s Eye has become a reference for discovering new talents and celebrating outstanding photographers. Other than the top three winners, the jury has selected 38 more amazing images from photographers coming from 21 different countries and across four continents. So, let’s check them out now, and I hope you’ll like them as much as I did. For more information, make sure to visit AAP’s website.
