Chinese lens manufacturer TTartisan has just launched a lens that you may find interesting if you’re on a tight budget. The new TTartisan 35mm f/1.4 is a fast manual focus lens made for APS-C cameras. Judging from sample photos, the image quality is more than decent. And yet, the lens will set you back only $80.

The new TTartisan 35mm f/1.4 comes in four different mounts: Sony E, Canon EOS M, Fuji X and MFT. As I mentioned, it’s designed for APS-C cameras, and it doesn’t have autofocus, but for $80 you probably can’t expect it, really.

The lens is built from seven elements in six groups and weighs around 180g (~0.4 pounds). It features a round 10-blade diaphragm, and from what I can see in sample images, it produces pretty interesting bokeh. Photo Rumors shared a few sample images on its Flickr profile, so you can see the TTartisan 35mm f/1.4 in action.

Here are the full specs and a few more photos of the lens:

  • Focal length: 35mm
  • Maximum aperture: F1.4
  • Minimum aperture: F16
  • Frame: APS-C, M43
  • Focus method: manual
  • Lens mount: Sony E\EOS-M\Fuji X\M43
  • Filter size: 39mm
  • Closest focusing distance: 0.28m
  • Angle of view: 45°
  • Diaphragm Blades: 10pcs
  • Optical Design: 7 Elements in 6 Groups
  • Weight: around 180g

For now, you can preorder the TTartisan 35mm f/1.4 via Photo Rumors for $80 with free shipping. It’s also sold on Amazon for $73 plus $5 shipping.
