There are a number of online courses that you can take for free right now, and Leica has decided to give its contribution. The company has announced an online series of free educational talks, as well as a weekly photo challenge to help you stay creative and curious even in these difficult times.

The talks are a part of Leica Akademie, and they take place every Sunday. Every Monday, after each talk, Leica will announce the photographic challenge inspired by it. The first talk was about photo books and it took place this past Sunday, but the weekly challenge is still on in case you’d like to join. As Leica points out, it’s not necessary to attend the Akademie talk to enter the photo challenge. So, whenever you like the weekly topic, you can take photos and share them on social media using #StayHomeWithLeica hashtag.

Other than just learning and creating, this challenge can even get you some awards. After each challenge published on Monday, the winner will be chosen and announced on @LeicaCameraUSA that following Saturday. The winner will be featured on the Leica Camera social page, and get a free bespoke Leica Akademie class ($150 value). And in case you were wondering- no, you don’t need to own a Leica for any of this.

As I mentioned, the first talk already took place on 29 March, and the next one is coming up on 5 April. The topic is Family as Subject, and you can register and attend here. The company says that, as the current situation continues to evolve and unfold, there will likely be additional classes and themed photo challenges, so stay tuned for more.
