At the beginning of the year, Fujifilm posted a new year announcement video stating that Fuji’s X summit and Fujikina had been scheduled for April of this year. Now, though, there are a couple of reports coming out that the events have been cancelled. FujiRumors says that a “trusted source” has told them that it is no longer going ahead. There’s been no official word from Fuji yet, although that may never come.
Exactly what was planned to be announced at the Fuji X Summit event is unknown, but there has been some speculation about what it might be. Could we be seeing a new sports-oriented GFX camera? New firmware to add major new functionality to older devices? Well, we still might find out next month.
The only thing that the Fujifilm post really says is that the event is cancelled. That does not necessarily mean that everything Fuji expected to announce at the event won’t still be announced anyway. So, although the event isn’t happening, we may still hear about the new toys. Of course, it’s also possible that the event has simply been delayed and the announcements might come in the future. In fact, it could be that a major announcement they were hoping to have in time for April isn’t quite ready yet, kinda making the event pointless.
What about Fujikina 2023?
This is, of course, all speculation as no reasons were provided for the cancellation. Speaking of speculation, what about Fujikina in New York? Is that still going to go ahead? Well, that’s another unknown. It wasn’t mentioned in this report. However, there does not appear to be any kind of Fujikina 2023 section on the Fuji website. Last year, Fuji put up posts first announcing the show and then secondly providing online registration for the event.
This year, for Fujikina 2023? Nothing. Zip. Nada. Just the new year video…

I (and Google) could not find a single page about Fujikina 2023 on the Fuji website. So, it looks like Fujikina 2023 may not be happening either. This is, as I said, speculation. But, it would be a shame to see them cancelled. The X Summit presentation videos are always quite interesting, and Fujikina 2022 sounded like a rather good event from what I’ve been told.
Still, even if one or both events are cancelled, let’s hope Fuji still plans to announce something to pique our interest next month!
Note: I doubt Fujifilm will make an announcement, given that they never even opened up registration or information for the events, but we’ll update this post if we hear any word from them about X Summit or Fujikina 2023.
