SmallRig has teamed up with the guys at Film Riot to develop a new multitool for filmmakers (and photographers). It features all of the usual hex keys, flat screws and other interfaces we typically encounter on camera gear. And it does it without giving you a bunch of things you don’t need.
There are two versions of the new SmallRig x Film Riot multitool. Their full and complete names are “SmallRig x FILM RIOT 7-in-1 Folding Wrench Set with Multiple Angle Positioning” ($29.99) and… well, the other one’s pretty much the same but 10-in-1 ($39.99).

The 10-in-1 Folding Wrench Set is the larger of the two, offering a wide range of useful heads you’ll often encounter on camera equipment. These include several sizes of hex and Phillips head screwdrivers, T25 torx and a flat-head driver.
Whether you just need to tighten things up a little on your tripod or you’re swapping out your entire camera rig, tools like this are extremely handy. And because they don’t include a lot of extra drivers you don’t need, they’re smaller and lighter.

If the 10-in-1 isn’t quite small enough for your pockets, there is also a 7-in-1 version. This loses a couple of the smaller hex sizes and the smaller Phillips head driver. If you’re regularly taking cameras in and out of cages, you might find that the 10-in-1 may be a better fit. It’ll allow you to get those fiddly locking screws in and out.
But if your needs don’t stretch much beyond swapping tripod plates and making sure all the nuts are tightened on set, the 7-in-1 could be exactly what you need. It also saves you $10.

This is a great concept but contains tools I’ll never use. I wish that would offer the tool with the option of tools to use in it. Kind of like they do with the key holder you can get.
