weddingWedding season is just around the corner, so there’s no time like now to learn some new tricks and brush up on your existing skills. In this series produced by Profoto, wedding photographer veterans, Justin and Mary Marantz, take you on a walk through of 20 different weddings, explaining lighting setups, must-have shots, and walk through of showing you exactly how they photograph in different settings and locations. The videos were made over the course of year, so you get a wide range of scenarios to learn from.

Here’s a sampling of the videos from the collection along with a playlist at the bottom so you can watch all the episodes.

Shooting the Reception Details in a Time Crunch

When you plan for two hours of shooting and only actually get seven minutes, things can suddenly become very stressful. Especially when shooting million dollar receptions, which is exactly what happened in this wedding walk through. See how the two photographers were able to get all the shots in less time than it takes to unpack all your gear.

Bride Getting Ready

Typically, there’s a lot of things going on in the bride’s staging area and it’s usually all happening very fast. When taking photos of the women in the bridal party getting ready, having a second shooter in the room can be a lifesaver. Here, the photographers explain why, and which positions they take when shooting the wedding preparations.

The Guys/Groom Getting Ready

Very rarely do things go as planned. As Mary states in the intro of this clip, “Show me a situation where the photographer planned to go au natural light, and I’ll show you a situation where it goes wrong.” For some reason, the men in the wedding party are usually stuck in dark conference rooms where lighting leaves a little to be desired. This video is perfect to show you how to handle these types of situations and get great photos of the groom.
