It looks like B&H has some substantial discounts on the Sony A6500 and its various kit combos today for “Green Monday”, with most reductions sitting around $400 and the highest being a whopping $600. The sale includes body-only and kits including various combos of 16-50mm, 16-70mm, 18-105mm, 18-135mm, and/or 55-210mm lenses.

These deals are expected to expire very soon, so if you’ve been thinking about picking up an A6500, there may not be a better time to buy than now.

I still can’t wrap my head around spending above $1000 on a crop sensor camera when second hand a7 ii are going for well under that at this point

Because sensor size isn’t everything. Many use them to shoot photos AND video, and the A7II sucks for video. Even if you can handle working with just 1080p, the moire on the A7II makes the footage just about useless.

And even for stills, there are many specs far more important than the size of the sensor. :)

John Aldred ah that could make sense then. I don’t shoot video.

For me it’s about lens selection. Full frame lenses do work on crop but it’s not the intended focal length, and it’s rare they have the higher end fast glass in a focal length short enough to cancel out the crop factor.

      My main lenses are
24-70 2.8, 50.1.4, 85 1.2, 70-200 4, and 40 2.8 pancake lens. For long range stuff I do prefer the 7d with my 70-300 IS, but a secondhand 7d mk I can be found in my area for as low as $400 Canadian with under 30k shutter counts
