amaran Halo series

If you’re building or upgrading your studio setup, Amaran has a new lineup of COB lights. The new amaran Halo series is a family of bi-color lights designed to deliver strong output, compact bodies, and straightforward controls while keeping pricing accessible and affordable.

The lineup includes five models: Halo 60x, 100x, 200x, 300x, and 600x. Together, they span a wide range of power levels, from compact lights for small desks and home studios to much more powerful fixtures suited for larger sets or multi-light production setups.

According to Amaran, the Halo series is its most attainable bi-color COB lineup so far. The goal is to make studio-quality lighting easier to scale as you grow your setups, without forcing you to move between different systems or workflows.

A Studio-Focused Lighting Family

Across the lineup, brightness ranges from 3,270 lux at one meter on the Halo 60x to 32,500 lux on the Halo 600x. Amaran says the lineup can deliver up to 65 percent more output than the previous COB S generation while maintaining a more compact design.

The lights are also designed to stay approachable. Instead of complicated menus, every Halo fixture features separate knobs for brightness and color temperature. This allows quick adjustments without digging through settings or screens.

Power options vary depending on the model. The Halo 60x and 100x can run from USB-C PD power sources, which makes them flexible for portable setups. Meanwhile, the Halo 200x, 300x, and 600x integrate their power supply directly into the fixture and operate using a single AC cable for simpler studio wiring.

Amaran has designed the Halo lineup with expanding studios in mind. The smaller models share the same compact footprint, while the larger ones maintain the same length and width but increase in depth as the power goes up. Even the 300x and 600x remain relatively compact for their output class.

Every Halo light supports DMX control via USB-C, allowing integration into professional lighting consoles through an optional USB-C to 5-pin DMX adapter. Another interesting addition is NFC pairing. You can tap the fixture with your phone to add it to the amaran app instantly, even before powering the light on. That should make multi-light setups much faster to configure.
