Here is a quick tip that may hopefully save you some time when you are using Photoshop.
Selecting objects has always been one of photoshop’s most intricate features. On one hand, how hard should it be to select something, but then on the other hands, doing a good selection of an object is not a trivial task.
The Quick Mask is a tool that lets you ‘paint’ your selection, or rather use any of the tools in Photoshop’s arsenal to make an area ‘black’ and then transform that blackness into a selection. #PSin30 has a great quickie on this topic.
To enter quick mode, hit Q, paint your selection and then hit Q again to transform the painted area into a selection.
