Instant photography already gives pictures a distinctive look, but Fujifilm is giving photographers a little more control over the mood before they print. The new Instax Square 2 adds warm and cool color filters to its square format, alongside a new Soft Haze film designed for softer contrast and gentler highlights.
Fujifilm announced the Instax Square 2 for release in late October 2026. The camera updates the company’s square format lineup with a redesigned body, automatic exposure, and simplified controls, while continuing to use Instax Square instant film.

Choose warm, cool, or classic colors
The Square 2’s main new feature is its Mood Filter Switch, which offers three settings. Warm adds a subtle golden tone, while Cool gives photos a bluer appearance. Switching the filter off returns to the classic Instax film look.
The camera also includes automatic exposure and automatic flash, reducing the need to adjust settings manually. A twist operated control lets users select between Close-up, Landscape, and Standard shooting modes.
A built-in selfie mirror helps users frame self portraits, while the sculpted body gives the camera a refreshed design. Buyers can choose from Slate Blue, Misty White, and Brick Red.
The package includes a hand strap, four AA batteries, a quick start guide, and a one year limited warranty. Instax Square film is sold separately.
Soft Haze film offers a gentler look
Alongside the camera, Fujifilm is introducing Instax Square Soft Haze film. Each pack contains 10 exposures and uses reduced saturation and contrast to create a softer overall appearance.
The film is designed to produce glowing highlights and warm, diffused shadows. It could appeal to photographers who prefer a subdued look over the stronger colors and contrast associated with more conventional instant film.
Unlike the Square 2’s built in filters, Soft Haze changes the look through the film itself. That gives photographers another creative option, although the film will also work as part of the wider Instax Square format lineup.
A little more control over instant photos
The Instax Square 2 is expected to arrive in late October 2026, with a suggested retail price of $119.95.
The camera’s filters offer a straightforward way to change color without editing software, while the new film provides a different look at the point of capture.
For instant photography fans, the interesting choice may be deciding which look suits a moment best: warm and nostalgic, cool and crisp, or softly rendered on film.
