Fujifilm has introduced the Instax mini Evo Cinema, a new hybrid instant camera that combines still photography, video capture, and on-the-spot printing in a single device. 

Scheduled for release in Japan on January 30, 2026, the mini Evo Cinema expands the company’s “Evo Series,” offering users a way to preserve memories both tangibly and digitally. 

Combined with its tactile, analog-inspired design, the mini Evo Cinema aims to provide both a visually rich and hands-on shooting experience.

Hybrid Instant Camera Meets Video

Unlike traditional instant cameras, the mini Evo Cinema allows you to preview shots on a rear LCD monitor and select your favorite frames for printing. 

What sets this model apart is its video capture functionality. Users can record clips up to 15 seconds long, review them instantly, and choose a still image from the video to print as an Instax photo. Each print includes a QR code that links directly to the video, allowing friends and family to scan and view the motion content.

This approach bridges the gap between physical and digital media, turning a single print into a gateway to a broader multimedia experience. For creators and casual photographers alike, it means you can hand someone a tangible photo while also sharing the full motion memory behind it.

The Eras Dial offers a novel way to add character to both stills and videos. 

Effects include “1960,” inspired by 8mm home movies; “1970,” evoking CRT television textures; and “1980,” capturing the look of 35mm color negative film. Each era introduces visual and audio textures, from subtle noise to nostalgic sounds like film reels whirring, making the shooting experience immersive. 

The adjustable levels allow fine-tuning of intensity, enabling a range from subtle hints of vintage feel to dramatic period-specific transformations.

Additionally, the Direct Print Function allows you to turn images stored on your smartphone into Instax prints directly from the camera. With Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, transferring and previewing media is quick and convenient.
