Olympus has something new in the store today. The company has announced the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm f/4 PRO, a 24-90mm-equivalent zoom lens for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. It’s a tiny and lightweight lens covering a standard zoom range, so it’s ideal for everyday use in all sorts of situations.

The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-45mm f/4 PRO covers a standard wide-angle to portrait-length range. It features a constant f/4 aperture, which isn’t the brightest there is. But, it enables this lightweight and compact design.

When it comes to the optical design, this lens packs two aspherical elements, one DSA (Dual Super Aspherical) element, two extra-low dispersion elements, one Super HR (high-refractive index) elements, and two HR elements. In other words, you can expect minimized aberrations, distortion, and color fringing throughout the entire zoom range. Olympus also promises sharp and clear images with high color accuracy.

As for autofocus, the company promises smooth, fast and quiet autofocusing. So, you can use this lens for shooting both photos and video. It’s also dust-, freeze-, and drip-proof, so you can use it in harsh weather conditions, too.
