You know those places that look like the perfect place to live in? Like the apartment at friends or the one in Seinfeld? Well, those just got demoted to a shack statue with Jared Polin’s introduction of the $4,000 peephole.

Now, over the years we did share a hack that converted a peephole into a fisheye lens, but this is, I think, the first time we are sharing a lens (and DSLR) turned into a peephole.

So, bill of materials:

  • 1 fireproof door
  • 1 old lens
  • 1 D800
  • 1 PVC tube

and a huge drill…

Just for comparison sake, here is that door from friends again:

    Where the fuck does a D800 come into this, he used an OLD film body. Besides this video is soooo old.

      If heard right, he uses a n90. But he placed the D800 to show on live view how it looks like.

    Just stick a UV or a Skylight filter on the lens so that visitors won’t put their grubby fingerprints on the lens.
