We had been pretty excited before the Nikon Z7 mirrorless camera was finally launched. And now that it has come into hands of many photographers worldwide – the accompanying gear accessories have started to appear, too. If you’re an underwater photographer and want to create your work with Nikon Z7, Ikelite has announced the first underwater housing for this full-frame mirrorless camera.
Ikelite 200DL is the full name of the housing for Nikon 7Z. It allows you to go down to 200′ (60m) depth with your gear and it’s compatible with DL system lens ports. Controls are provided for “all important camera controls,” but not for joystick up/down/left/right, Fn1, Fn2, diopter adjustment dial, or DOF button.
The housing has a 1/4-20 thread base mounts with 3.5″ spacing. It weighs 4.7 lb (2.15 kg) and the dimensions are 8.75 x 6.875 x 6.5″ (220 x 175 x 165 mm). ABS-PC construction is fundamentally corrosion-resistant. Ikelite writes that the 200DL has slightly positive buoyancy in fresh water, and adds that the actual buoyancy varies depending on choice of lens and port.
With the housing, an Ikelite ICS-5 bulkhead connector with manual hotshoe is included. It enables you reliable electrical triggering of underwater strobes, and optional TTL accessories provide automatic exposure with compatible Ikelite DS strobes.
The Ikelite 200DL is currently in production and will be released in early November for the price of $1,695. You can preorder it via your local dealer (B&H) or contact Ikelite directly.
