TTArtisan Full-Frame 100mm f/2.8 2x Macro

Last year, TTArtisan released a pretty interesting-looking full-frame 100mm f/2.8 2x Macro lens. What made it interesting was that it was a tilt-shift macro lens (buy here), and you can read a review of it here. But now they’ve announced a new one.

This one removes the tilt-shift capabilities, so it’s just a regular full-frame 100mm f/2.8 2x Macro lens (buy here). But, removing this feature does drop the price down by about 23%. They’re also releasing it for a lot more camera systems.

TTArtisan Full-Frame 100mm f/2.8 2x Macro

The original TTArtisan 100mm f/2.8 2x Macro lens was available for four mounts. Not surprisingly, this meant Nikon Z, Canon RF, Sony E, and Fuji X mounts. The new lens is available for these mounts, too, but with the addition of Leica L, Canon EF, Nikon F and Fuji GFX.

Other than the lack of tilt-shift, the new 100mm f/2.8 2x Macro sounds a lot like the tilt-shift version. Both lenses carry a 14-element, 10-group optical makeup with a 25cm minimum focus distance, 12-blade aperture and up to 2x macro reproduction. So, I expect the two lenses to be basically identical, aside from obvious tilt-shift abilities.

That removal of tilt-shift does knock $80 off the price, though. For some, the $80 saving will be worth it. A lot of people don’t need tilt-shift. But for those who need it, that extra $80 will be seen as a bargain to grab that feature. It’s nice to see TTArtisan catering to both types of users.

Maybe we’ll even see a tilt-shift 2x macro soap bubble lens one day, too!
