TTArtisan announces super-low-budget 500mm f/6.3 super telephoto lens

TTArtisan has announced a new low-budget lens. This one, though, is a little different to all the short focal length f/0.95 lenses. This one’s at the very opposite end of the spectrum with a 500mm focal length and max aperture of f/6.3.

It comes in a variety of mounts, including Sony E, Leica L, Nikon Z and Canon RF. Yes, those last two confirm what you suspect. As with most other TTArtisan lenses, this one’s a manual focus lens, too.

When it comes to bokeh, most people typically are on the lookout for smooth, round, creamy bokeh or they want that oval anamorphic look. TTArtisan is taking things in a different direction, though, with their new lens.

It’s the TTArtisan 100mm f/2.8 Bubble Bokeh lens. Yup, bubbles. If you can’t quite imagine that that looks like, there are samples below. It’s an interesting look, if perhaps not desirable for ever session.

TTArtisan has announced a new lens. It marks an interesting shift in direction for the company as it’s their first anamorphic lens. It’s a very compact-looking 25mm T2.0 with a 1.33x desqueeze factor and a 67mm filter thread.

It appears to perhaps be the first of a new “Anamorphot” range from TTArtisan, judging from the extra logo below the TTArtisan name at the top of the lens.

7artisans releases a teeny tiny 18mm f/6.3 pancake lens for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds

7Artisans has announced its new (and tiny) 18mm f/6.3 pancake lens (buy here) for Micro Four Thirds and APS-C mirrorless cameras. In the APS-C mounts, we’ve got Nikon Z, Fuji X, Sony E and Canon EF-M. No sign of a Canon RF mount one, but given how swiftly Canon has been enforcing its intellectual lens property, that’s not much of a surprise.

As is the nature with pancake lenses, the 7Artisans 18mm f/6.3 is extremely compact. In fact, it’s not much bigger than a regular standard body cap. It’s not optically complex and comes with a relatively cheap price point. Looking at some of the sample photos from Robin Wong’s video below, though, it looks pretty good!

Lens review: TTArtisan 100mm F2.8 2x Macro tilt-shift

Talk about ratcheting up the complexity!  I’ve reviewed a number of TTArtisan lenses before, and they have mostly fallen into the categories that are filled by a lot of what I call “Boutique Third Parties”.  These include various manual everything prime lenses with varying maximum aperture sizes.   While engineering for larger apertures (like their F0.95 lenses) are more challenging, their newest lens adds a LOT of new moving parts.  That lens is the TTArtisan 100mm F2.8 2X Macro Tilt/Shift (we’ll shorten that to TTA100M for this review).

TTArtisan has announced its new full-frame 100mm f/2.8 Tilt-Shift Macro lens. As a manual focus lens, it’s available for a variety of mounts that wouldn’t otherwise be easily available. Of course, there’s the usual Sony E mount and Fuji X mount, but it’s also available for Nikon Z and Canon RF mounts.

Made up of 14 elements in 10 groups, the new lens provides 2x magnification for macro, as well as tilt-shift capabilities to adjust the plane of focus. The wide f/2.8 aperture diaphragm is made of 12 blades for smooth round bokeh and also sports a cold shoe attachment for putting lights close to your subjects.

TTArtisan’s low-budget full-frame 50mm f/1.4 Tilt lens sports MOD 0.8 gears for video shooters

The low-budget lenses seem to be coming through thick and fast right now in the lead-up to Christmas. The latest is the TTArtisan 50mm f/1.4 Tilt lens for full-frame mirrorless cameras. This manual focus lens is available for Canon RF, Nikon Z, Sony E, Leica L and the APS-C format Fuji X mount cameras.

The tilt feature of the usual tilt-shift lens is what allows you to adjust your plane of focus. This can be very handy for keeping off-axis subjects in focus but it’s also used quite commonly for creating that miniature effect with landscapes and city shots. And that’s what this lens provides with a nice, bright and shallow f/1.4 aperture depth of field.

TTArtisan has announced a new 11mm f/2.8 Fisheye lens for full-frame Nikon F mount and Canon EF mount DSLRs. Yeah, I know, a DSLR lens in 2022! What are they thinking? Well, it looks like might be bringing out some dedicated mirrorless versions, too, although so far, it only appears to be Nikon F and Canon EF mount ones that are available – although they can be easily adapted!

The new lens offers a wide 180° field of view with an also wide f/2.8 aperture. It has a built-in lens hood and a minimum focus distance of only 17 centimetres. It contains 12 elements in 10 groups, including 4 high refractive index elements to help control distortion and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness. An extra-low dispersion element helps to reduce colour fringing and chromatic aberration.
